Cole Jester serves as the Secretary of State of Arkansas. A constitutional lawyer and lifelong Arkansan, Cole previously served as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and Rulemaking Director for Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, where he specialized in legislation and regulation.

Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, Cole gained legal experience with the U.S. Air Force, the law firm of Friday, Eldredge & Clark, and the Arkansas Solicitor General’s Office. He also clerked for the Honorable R. Lavenski Smith, then Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Cole was a John Marshall Fellow with the Claremont Institute and a Fellow with the Heritage Foundation’s Clerkship Academy. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Law & Politics and Associate Editor of the Texas Review of Law & Politics. While in law school, Cole also served as Hospitality Chair for the National Federalist Society Student Symposium.

Prior to law school, Cole earned a double major in Christian Studies and Political Science from Ouachita Baptist University, graduating summa cum laude.
